Osho Ashram

History

Situated in the Koregaon Park of Pune is the Osho Commune International of Pune – an ashram, which was founded by Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain who was popularly known as Osho Rajneesh. Renowned primarily for its various unique meditation courses, the Osho Ashram is a 32 acre beautiful campus that offers a welcome relief from the hustle bustle of a hectic city life and is a main attraction for tourists who are ardent followers of his ideologies and preaching.

Since it is a resort for meditation and Yoga the Osho Ashram keeps organising regular training programmes on spiritual uplift and stress free living. Some of the meditation techniques that are taught and practiced here are Osho Kundalini meditation, Osho Nadabrahma meditation, Osho dynamic meditation and Osho Nataraj. The training offers the practice of meditation to get rid of stress and strain from daily life. In order to maintain the uniformity amongst the followers, you are required to wear maroon robes in the morning and white robes for evening meditation sessions.

Osho Rajneesh who left for his heavenly abode left his legacy in the form of Osho Ashram of Pune, which today boasts of Osho Multiversity that provides a range of courses, each suiting a different type of person. Various facilities offered at Osho Commune International of Pune include massage and beauty parlours, swimming pool, sauna, tennis and basketball courts among others. This apart, the ashram complex is also popular for its picturesque landscaped gardens that are open to the general public in the mornings and evenings.

Believed to be one of the world’s largest institutions, Osho Multiversity is an establishment where meditation and personal development methods are taught and the curriculum includes, healing arts, esoteric sciences, creative arts, martial arts, tantra, Zen and Sufism among others. The ashram also conducts meditation camps every second Friday of the month for three days and in those three days visitors just experience and practice the meditation techniques of Osho.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Osho Ashram is between September and April when the weather is pleasant enough to enjoy all the facilities and programmes, the ashram has to offer.

Since people come here to heal themselves through self-discovery, the ashram is also known as 'Spiritual Disney Land'.

The ashram is open on all the days throughout the year.
