You can enjoy the following outdoor activities in Maharashtra:

Paragliding

Soar high over the rugged hills of the Sahyadris. For sheer adventure, travellers can opt for destinations like Kamshet and Panchgani for paragliding. The hill station - Panchgani is a perfect place for this adventure activity as it is perched at a high altitude of 1334 meters making it an ideal spot for paragliding. The duration of the ride strongly depends on the wind currents, so in order to take pleasure of the activity, keep yourself well informed about the climatic conditions. It is best advised to avoid flying in extreme weather conditions. However, the months between May and October are good to experience this sport.

Para-Sailing

Well known destinations for para-sailing are Matheran, Singhdad, Deolali, Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar and Kamshet. It is also done mostly in the Western Ghat range. Para-sailing is done with the help of a motor vehicle whether on land here. You are advised to wear comfortable clothes like a t-shirt and jeans along with a pair of comfortable shoes for a good experience. The necessary equipments like life jackets, wind socks, helmets and wind meters will be provided by the para-sailing schools or centres. One should avoid this adventurous outdoor activity during the monsoons and go for it on a clear sunny day.

Trekking

The lush landscape of the Sahyadris is ideal for trekking in Maharashtra. Popular trekking spots in Maharashtra include Panchgani, Mount Kalusbai in Bhandardara which is a few kilometres away from Nashik and Waki woods near Nagpur. Khadki Point in Toranmal makes a good trekking area providing you a picturesque view of the valleys below. You can also trek to Matheran from Panvel or Neral. Other trekking routes include - Mahabaleshwar - Zolai Khind - Dudhgaon - Chaturbet - Ghonaspur - Makarandgad - Hatlot - Pratapgad and Kamshet - Bedsa Caves - Bedsa Gill - Visapur Fort - Lohagad Fort - Bhaja Caves - Karla Caves. The treks are easy and perfect for beginners and seasoned trekkers. Carry good trekking shoes, sun tan lotion, light cotton clothing for the task and drinking water. The perfect time to enjoy trekking here is in the winter months starting from November continuing till February.
