Lakshadweep archipelago is made up of 36 islands. Only 10 of these islands are inhabited. Out of these 10 only two islands - Bangaram and Kadmat islands are open for tourists and for sightseeing. Lakshadweep is a tropical paradise with snow white soft sandy beaches and clear, sparkling blue waters. Breathtaking landscapes and colours dominate the surroundings and a kaleidoscope of colours can be found underwater with a variety of unique marine life including corals. Visit any of these beaches to relax and unwind or engage in the many water sports that are offered on the islands.
The Lighthouse at Minicoy is amongst the oldest in Lakshadweep dating back to 1885. You can go right to the top of this 300 foot lighthouse and get a spectacular bird's eye view of the Lakshadweep islands. The view is breathtaking making the lighthouse really worth a visit.
Another place to visit in Lakshadweep is the Marine Aquarium and Museum at Kavaratti, which is an informative museum that was set up in 1983. It houses many marine artefacts, unique species of fish and other marine life. The whole purpose of the museum is to spread awareness of marine life and its preservation.
