| | Sightseeing in Kovalam |

|
The main attractions for sightseeing in Kovalam are its three crescent shaped beaches- Lighthouse Beach, Hawa Beach and Ashok Beach.
The Lighthouse beach lies in the southern most part of Kovalam. The Vizhinjam Lighthouse, from which the beach gets its name, dominates the landscape. The Lighthouse Beach is the most popular amongst tourists with its lovely sun kissed sandy beaches. There are a number of restaurants near the beach that serve delicious seafood.
The Hawa Beach also known as Eve’s Beach is a fairly clean beach and is separated from the Lighthouse beach by the Edakallu foreland, which is a great spot to watch the sunset from.
The third beach- Ashok Beach draws its name from the Hotel Ashok. The Kovala Jama Masjid is a small mosque that stands on the Ashok Beach. You can also visit the Ganapathi Temple nearby and pay homage to Lord Ganapathi.
Alert!
As tempting as it may be to venture out into the sea you must be careful as the sea here has a strong under current. Even though there are alert lifeguards on every beach it’s important to exercise caution. Only swim in area marked by green flags and never venture out to sea after drinking.
