Sneak Preview
Kovalam is famous for its serene beauty and pristine beaches. Kovalam consists of three main beaches, the most popular being the Lighthouse Beach and Hawa Beach. Kovalam with its unspoilt beaches was once a hippie paradise, but it's increasing popularity among tourists has been a major dissuasion of late.
No longer, an undiscovered rural idyll, Kovalam has made rapid strides towards resort-station and now this beach resort is one of the biggest draws to `god’s own country’. Kovalam still has a lovely shoreline and sun kissed beaches lined with coconut trees and night fishermen who go out for the daily catch.
So close to Trivandrum it’s a convenient hop-skip-and-jump away from the city scene…and definitely the place to go if your prime motive for the Kerala trip is an Ayurvedic massage.

If sun, sand and sea are all what you are looking for, Kovalam is your idyllic destination. Kovalam is indeed a ‘Paradise of the South’ with renowned beaches and pristine beauty. Ayurvedic salons are of course a topping on the cake!

Historically Speaking
The calm and quaint village of Kovalam was first explored by the king of Travancore who retreated to the town quite often for leisure. During the British reign, the King invited his European guests to this enchanting destination who found it impressive and decided to promote tourism in its different locations. However, it was the decade of 1970s when Kovalam received a true boost in terms of tourist activities with the arrival of hippies. Today, the village is a popular haunt amongst the locals and a great spot for vacation.
