Kukke Subrahmanya is a pilgrim destination but even if you are not very religiously inclined, you will still enjoy nature’s beauty and the treks through lush green forests and hills. Subrahmanya has quite a few temples within close proximity but the main temple- Kukke Subrahmanya Temple- houses the Snake God Vasuki and Lord Subrahmanya. The temple is set against the Kumara Parvatha hills and pilgrims have to cross the nearby Kumaradhra River and take a holy dip in it before paying their obedience to the God. There is a pillar at the entrance of the temple that is reportedly charmed and absorbs the poisonous breadth of Vasuki who resides deep inside the temple thus sparing the pilgrims.
The other temples in the complex are Vedavyasa Samputa Narasimha Temple, Adi Subrahmanya temple, the Shringeri Mutt, Raktheshwari Temple, Kashi-Katte Ganapati temple and a host of others.

Take a holy dip in the Kumaradhara River before you pay obedience to Lord Subrahmanya at his temple. It is more of a ritual that the pilgrims practice before their darshan of the Lord.
