Dandeli Travel Guide

Spread over 834.16 sq. kms, Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is one destination where one can have one's fill of wildlife and adventure sports. The Kali River rushes by the sanctuary and you can take an exhilarating ride down the rapids on an inflatable raft. The sanctuary is home to the highly elusive Black Panther as also to elephants, tigers, leopards, bisons, sloth bears, langurs, slender loris, deer, and whole lot of other animals.

A unique feature of the sanctuary is the presence of a huge number and variety of hornbills. It is an endangered bird and very rare in the rest of the country but found in the hundreds at Dandeli. In addition to fish, the river also has a large number of crocodiles. Since the number of big game is not as high as in other wildlife sanctuaries, sighting of these exotic animals calls a fair bit of luck and patience.
