Bijapur is a heritage destination known for its medieval monuments, which are a unique form of Islamic architecture. It consists of three distinct portions: the citadel, the fort and the remains of the city.
The heritage city of Bijapur lies in the Deccan Plateau and is originally known as the Queen of Deccan. Bijapur represents a desolate landscape of red, rocky hills, long stretches of treeless fields and gigantic rocks speckled in groups over the rolling plains.
