Monkey Point

History

One of the most popular tourist spot in Kasauli is the Monkey Point, the highest point in the town. According to the legend of the Ramayana, when Lord Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after obtaining the magical herb, Sanjivani Booti, his foot touched this hill and as a result the hill took the shape of a foot.

A trip to the Monkey Point on a clear night enables you to enjoy a fascinating view of the distant plains of Chandigarh and the Sutlej River. Besides offering these panoramic views, Monkey Point is also renowned for a small temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The Hanuman Temple is situated on the top of the hill and is flocked with the gang of monkeys that keep raiding the place, so beware. Usually the monkeys are harmless, but it is still suggested that the tourists should be careful.

The Monkey Point is one of the main attractions of Kasauli and with its wonderful views, hopping monkeys, and calm atmosphere will surely make you visit the place again and again.
