History of Bhadrachalam

The history of Bhadrachalam, which is located on the banks of the Godavari River, goes back to the ancient and mythological ages. Closely associated with the Hindu epic Ramayana, Bhadrachalam, according to the local belief, is the town from where demon king Ravana had kidnapped Sita. It is also believed that Bhadrachalam was the place from where Ram crossed the Godavari River during his quest to save Sita.
