Festivals and Events in Tahiti

Chinese New Year is celebrated with great enthusiasm in January /February. There are cultural programmes held with lots of music and dancing – generally a time of festivity.

Heiva i Tahiti takes place in July annually and is the most awaited event of the year, with islanders from the outlying islands also coming in to Papeete to partake in the festivities. Local handicrafts are on display and there is a general feeing of bonhomie in the air.
