Getting Around Tahiti Taxis are widely available here but are overpriced. The bus service is pretty good and is great way of connecting with the local population. Once in Papeete, its easy to walk around the waterfront area. To commute to other nearby islands try an outrigger canoe or motor boat- it surely is the most convenient way of getting around and exploring the environs. The Moorea ferries operate 6 times a day. Air Tahiti is a domestic flight which also flies to all the nearby islands of Tahiti- Bora Bora, Rangiroa, Hao, Nuku Hiva.
