Best Time to Visit The Channel Islands

The best time to visit the Channel Islands is the summer (May to September). The Channel Islands comprise of 5 islands, namely:- Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm are closer to the French coast than to the England coast and so it has better climate than the extreme climate of the UK. The climate in summer is warm, sunny and drier than the rest of England. At times, in the month of August the temperature can even reach 25 degree Celsius.

The peak months are from June to September . The reservations for accommodation could get a little expensive; however rooms are always available at anytime of the year. Summer is the best time to visit the Channel Islands to enjoy the clear weather and lovely beaches like the L’Eree and Portelet on west and the south-west coast of Guernsey. It is also a good time to visit the Guernsey Bird Gardens which houses over 70 species of birds.

There are many events held in the summer season, including the famous Battle of the Flowers in the month of August. Sark is also the world’s first dark sky island, giving the absolutely fascinating and world class view of the Milky Way on summer nights. However, winter (November to March) is considered the off peak season , because the isles tend to get a wet climate during this time and hence, makes it difficult to explore the various islands and enjoy the spectacular beaches. The average temperature during winters is 9 degree Celsius. Spring (March to May) experiences the clear blue skies and the weather gets better, with the average temperature going up to 14 degree Celsius, but you could still experience the cold winds from the sea.
