Currency of England

The currency used in England is the British Pound Sterling and it is one of the strongest currencies along with the Euro, Japanese Yen and the American Dollar. The British Pound is also one of the oldest currencies of the world and often referred to as 'quid' in slang.

The British Pound is divided into 100 pence.The £ symbol represents the British Pound and the symbol for the pence is 'p'. Denominations in bank notes are: £5, £10, £20 and £50 and the denominations for coins are 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p; £1 and £2.
