Blackpool is a pleasant seaside town in Lancashire, situated along the coast of the Irish Sea in the north west of England. Dubbed as "Britain's undisputed capital of entertainment", Blackpool is the most popular tourist destination in the whole of England, after London. Many people come to this town for its many attractions, the prime ones being the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower and Blackpool Illuminations.
Blackpool was a little hamlet beside the sea until 18th century two men, Thomas Clifton and Sir Henry Hoghton built a private road to Blackpool. Today Blackpool is, of course, a thriving resort with many attractions.

Did you know? Blackpool Illuminations, the famous lights festival, encompasses a remarkable one million lamps in various types and styles and cost £2.4 million to stage. No wonder millions of people swarm the city during the festival!
