Sharm el-Sheikh is not only about sun and sea but also some interesting sights to be visited by the tourists.
Mount Sinai, the highest peak in the peninsula, is often known as the Holy Mountains. This is the peak where God created the Ten Commandments. The peak can be reached by climbing the 500 steps leading up to the top.
St. Catherine's Monastery, a celebrated site of the burning bush, was built in the 4th century at the foot of Mount Sinai. It is one of the oldest monasteries and houses the second largest collection of codices and manuscripts written in Greek, Coptic, Arabic, Armenian, Hebrew, or Syriac. This is the place where God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and this biblical bush was burnt the first time God spoke to Moses. Since then this site has had a religious and historical significance and has been the most visited and photographed site in the whole city.
Naama Bay offers spectacular views, innumerable tropical fish, abundance of water sports and a horde of wildlife. All this and more makes Naama Bay one of the most heavenly vacation spot in the region.
Ras Muhammad National Park located in Southern Sinai about 20km from Central Sharm el-Sheikh was founded in 1983. The National Park offers marvelous coral reef and nature viewing experiences to the visitor.
