Sneak Preview
Nestled on the Southern tip between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai, Sharm el-Sheikh, is one the most beautiful and renowned deep-sea diving paradises in the world. Crystal clear water, pristine white sandy beaches and endless desert landscape, and exotic underwater flora and rare tropical fish, make Sharm el-Sheikh one of the most favourite tourist destination in Egypt.
Also referred to as “The City of Peace”, Sharm el-Sheikh is divided into three main regions namely Naama Bay, Ras Um Sid Cliff and Sharm El Maya. Na’ama Bay is a long sandy bay that boasts a beautiful paved walkway, lined with bougainvillea and oleander. Historically Speaking
Although Sharm El Sheikh was practically unpopulated till the mid 1980’s, its strategic location with the streams between the mainland and the Island of Tiran has made sure that the city got noticed.
The streams are important for oil trade as all the sea traffic goes from here. It was due to this reason that the Israelis controlled the city for a long time, after defeating Egypt in the 6 day war in 1967.
It was only after the peace treaty of 1982 that the reins of the city were handed to Egypt. Today Sharm El Sheikh is a major tourist destination of the country and one of the top diving destinations of the world.
