Best Time to Visit Hong Kong

If you are considering the weather while planning a trip to Hong Kong, the months of October, November and December are perhaps the most favorable and are definitely the best time to visit. During this period, the city shines beneath clear skies amidst the mild breeze of the season. The temperatures are bracing at 20-24 degrees C in the day time and falling to 16-10 degrees C at night in December. The months of January and February get very cold with a further fall in temperatures. Though it is cold in January and February you may want to consider coming here during the Chinese New year when festivities rent the air but the downside is that hotels are expensive and hard to come by unless you have booked well before.

Spring at this colorfully extravagant city is also very welcoming. Considered as one of the best times in the year, the months of March and April are characterized by pleasantly warming temperatures with a little humidity. The temperatures remain in the mid 20 degree C with slightly cooler nights.

Summer months of June, July and August see the humidity levels rising to a steamy 85% - it is uncomfortable hot and the mercury shoots up to the 32 degree C mark. July August are also the months when the tropical storms are likely to hit Hong Kong, so it will be wet! The good news for globe trotters is that the happening city of Hong Kong is illuminated by events and annual festivals throughout the year. Festivities kick start with the Chinese New Year at the Tsim Sha Tsui district. The dazzling fireworks along with the grand parade at night are some of the most delightful sights to be caught during this celebration.

Another significant event at the island is the Dragon Boat festival held in the month of June. It gives an opportunity to the spectators to witness several elaborately designed boats being paddled by numerous participants in the Shing Mun River at Sha Tin. The festival draws the attention hundreds of tourists every year.

However, the most pivotal events at the island are organized in the months of October, November and December. Some of them are Hong Kong Wine and Spirits Fair, Hong Kong Dance Festival, Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup and the New Year Countdown carnival at Sha Tin Park.

In case you’re keen on stealing the hottest deals on shopping at Hong Kong, plan a visit close to Christmas which marks the inception of great discounts and offers at most of the destinations in the city. The sales fever fades post the Chinese New Year Celebration and invites Shopaholics across the globe to stock up on their favorites.
