You can drive through the Algonquin forest or follow one of the innumerable walking and hiking trails. Choose between brief, half hour trips, and long backpackers hikes that take a few days, with plenty of camping in the wilderness thrown in. Try the 13 km Hardwood Lookout Trail or the 2 km Whiskey Rapids Trail that follows a river.
Algonquin is a park for all seasons. The colours of fall are truly spectacular - fiery forest reds, oranges and gold; maples, aspen and oak leaves crunching under your feet. This is the time you can hear wolf packs howl, and see big bull moose in full-antlered anticipation of the mating season. And while you are on the look out, you might spot an otter, beaver, osprey, raccoon or mink or look up to see hundreds of birds and waterfowl fluttering over the lakes.
