What to Pack
Everything- or almost everything you may need. Cambodia isn’t the most developed and westernized of countries, and you may not find much of what you need outside Phnom Penh. The capital has shops and markets where you can usually find medicines, toiletries and the like, but definitely not the expensive or rare brands, but in towns and villages outside Phnom Penh you might have trouble finding most things. So if you’re likely to run out of anything, it’s best to bring along replenishments.
As far as clothing is concerned, carry light, airy clothes- Cambodia’s hot and muggy, and cotton is best. However, be careful about what you wear- leave skimpy clothing for the beaches; and be doubly sure not to wear shorts, tank tops or the like when visiting shrines or temples of any kind.
Do bring along insect repellent and sun tan lotion- two indispensable things needed in the country. Cambodia is giving Thailand a run for the dubious honour as the sex capital of South East Asia and AIDS is rampant. So please carry along an adequate supply of condoms or stay off sex for good. It’s also a good idea to carry a map of the country or respective cities you are travelling to for your own convenience. more hide

Travel Documents
Except for countries such as Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand, all foreigners, irrespective of nationality, requires a valid visa and passport with at least six months validity is required before they’re allowed to enter Cambodia. Due to recent developments, online visas can also be obtained by logging on to the website of Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/evisa/). However, it is only valid in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh
There is also a provision to get visas issued on arrival from two of the international airports situated in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and overland border crossings with Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. Apart from the many options available, travellers can also directly apply for visas through the Cambodian Consulates or Embassies. A tourist visa costs around US$ 20 but at the border crossings, you’ll find it at an inflated price of US$ 30.
