How to get there by Air

Getting to Cambodia isn’t as difficult as it once used to be, with two major international airports serving the country. One is in Phnom Penh, the capital city and political center of Cambodia, known as the Phnom Penh International Airport and the second airport is Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport situated at Siem reap, the land housing Angkor wat- Cambodia’s most popular tourist destination.

Both airports provides adequate facilities for tourists and are easily accessible by a number of cities including Bangkok, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Hong Kong and Hanoi. Angkor Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Thai airways, China Southern Airlines are just a few of the many passenger carriers which flies directly to this ancient country.

Taxis and tuk-tuks outside airports can easily take travellers to the desired destinations.

How to get there by Road

Cambodia is conveniently connected with Laos, Vietnam and Thailand via roads. Visitors can easily take advantage of any of the border crossings with the three neighboring countries. Tourists frequently use border crossings at Aranyaprathet and Had Lek in Thailand, Voeung Kam in Laos and Moc Bai, Ving Xuong, Xa Xia and Le Tanh in Gia Lai Province in Vietnam. Buses are the most common means of transport and a number of bus services can be checked out before hitching a ride to Cambodia.

How to get there by Sea

Phnom Penh can be reached aboard one of the passenger ferries plying between Chau Doc (in Vietnam) and the Cambodian capital. Visitors can also cross over from Laos in to Cambodia from a crossing at Koh Chheuteal Thom but since the tickets are over-priced, tourists prefer roads to rivers.

Getting Around

Making your way around Cambodia is uncomplicated owing to the means of transport available in the country. Bangkok Airways and Siem Reap Airways are the only tow domestic carriers in Cambodia serving cities such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Battambang, Kompong Som, Koh Kong and Stung Treng.

Commuting between Cambodian cities via roads isn’t a great option due to the bad condition of the roads. Therefore, the only viable option for long-distance travel is the extensive waterways of the country. There are around 1900 km of rivers and canals in Cambodia. The capital Phnom Penh can also be reached by sea-going vessels.

Within cities, taxis, motorbikes, motodups, tuk-tuks, samlors and cyclos can be hired, and you’ll find a fairly decent bus network serving the capital’s suburbs. Public transport is an inexpensive and simple way to roam around cities without worrying about going over budget. However, don’t settle on a price without haggling it out a bit. Keep a smile on your face and rest assured, you’ll be able to get a ride at a much reduced rate. If you’re keen on hiring a car, you should contact the

Directorate General of Tourism- they’ll arrange for a government car (with a chauffeur) for you.
