Innsbruck, a charming little town is set in a valley with the snow-capped Alps rising in majestic splendour around. The cobblestone streets lined with quaint baroque style houses, make a pretty picture. The slopes of the surrounding mountains promise great skiing and Innsbruck serves as a base for many a hiking expedition. The Inn River cuts through the city with the central district of Alsadt lying to the west of the river.
History is encountered at every step and the patrons figures of Emperor Maximilian I and Empress Marie Theresa are etched in the minds of the people forever: many treasure filled museums are dedicated to them and even streets are named after these two figures who shaped the history of the city.

Innsbruck served as a host to the Winter Olympics in the year 1964 and again in 1976. In 2008, Innsbruck was host city to the European Soccer Cup. Seems that Innsbruck has a lot to do with sporting activities!
