History
Bondi Beach is one of Australia’s most celebrated beaches that attract thousands of visitors each year from all over the globe. Spread across a kilometer of golden grains, Bondi Beach has a style of its own. It is here that you will find lifeguards patrolling between yellow and red flags, surfers riding the waves, topless bronzed bodies, vibrant cafes and elegant restaurants.
Bondi Beach is enclosed by attractive parkland, a fantastic promenade around the headland, Sydney’s Aboriginal sites towards the northern headland and a fabulous coastal walk at the southern headland. You can surf, go scuba diving, relax, play games, take a walk all the way to the Coogee Beach, see the indigenous rock engravings, and do many more activities on this great sandy beach.
Most cafes and shops are found on the Campbell Parade which runs along the back of the beach offering a lively and busy atmosphere all day long. Towards the North of Campbell Parade there is a market from where you can pick up some great bargains. The Bondi Beach Market and the Bondi Junction Market are held each Sunday selling some local art, food and clothing.
Bondi Beach is a perfect place to spend a lazy day or a day packed with activities. The beach is a see and be seen territory and has become synonymous with Sydney’s beach lifestyle.
