Food in Antigua & Barbuda

Be ready to explore the variety of sumptuous local delicacies. Some of the specialities that you must bite into are: Saltfish (eaten with tomato and onion sauce), Ducana (grated sweet potato and coconut, mixed with pumpkin and cooked in a banana leaf), and pepper pot with fungi (a sort of cornmeal dumpling), goat water (goat stew), shellfish and conch stew. The local stable diet of chicken and rice is very tasty, so be sure to try it out.

Fresh tropical fruits are available by the dozen. Though imported spirits are available, local drinks such as coconut milk, Antiguan rum punches, swizzles and frit and sugarcane juices must be tasted.
