The tiny principality
of Andorra lies tucked away in the Pyrenees, between Spain and France. Its a little
state with two rulers but without a currency of its own (francs and pesetas are used as
money) and with a culture combining the cultural traditions of its two nearest neighbours,
Spain and France. In fact, Andorra is so close, and not just geographically, to both
France and Spain, that the countrys two heads of state are actually the French
President and the bishop of a neighbouring diocese in Spain; even the defence of Andorra
is the responsibility of Spain and France. |

Andorra is really
tiny, just about 468 sq km of mountainous country. What really sets Andorra apart is the
excellent skiing in the country- come winter and the slopes of Andorra become among the
best ski runs in this part of Europe. The country has some picturesque towns, and good
duty-free shopping for the itinerant traveller. |
