Yercaud Lake Yercaud is a small, unpretentious hill station in the Shevaroy Hills near Salem in Tamilnadu, a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. You can while away the hours walking along little trodden paths and sauntering through the forests, relaxing in grassy woods or boating on the placid lake. The little town of Yercaud has an untouched landscape and a graceful, unhurried charm. Yercaud is surrounded by coffee plantations and thickly forested hills that are wonderful for trekking. The town is at a height of 1,500 mt, and the weather is just right for a pleasant holiday during the Dussehra-Diwali vacations. The drive to

These are the Aiyanars, the guardian deities of the villages. Finally, you will be greeted by the fragrance of coffee blossoms and the sight of pretty thatched cottages as you approach Yercaud.

Yercaud is made for long, leisurely walks or a slow ride on the lake in a pedal boat. You can hire a car or taxi to drive around the nearby sights like Lady's Seat that overlooks the valleys, or Pyramid Point or Pagoda Point, with its interesting structure of stones. 7 km from the lake is the Servaroyan Temple near the lake is also worth visiting, as is the old cave temple nearby.
