Guyana literally means "the land of many rivers" and they couldn’t have found a more apt name. About the size of Britain, it is blessed with rivers, waterfalls, high savannah uplands and rain forests. Guyana has become home to people who originally belonged to far away lands that stretch as far as the Indian subcontinent, China and Europe. Today the east Indians are in control of most of the small business enterprises and most of the Afro Guyanese hold jobs in the government sector.
