Visit the home of one of Key West's
most famous resident, author Ernest Hemingway. Those interested in literature should take
the Writers' Walk, a guided tour of the homes of many famous writers such as Robert Frost,
Tennessee Williams and other. Another place worth visiting is the Key West
Aquarium, home to an amazing range of sea creatures.
Excellent seafood and Cuban cuisine define the eating out experience in
Key West. Most places serve delicious conch fritters, seafood chowders and key lime pie.
Nightlife here is exciting with many bars and pubs staying open through the night. Live
music is de rigueur
As a major center for jazz and blues since the 1930s and home to
Charlie Parker, the great saxophone player, Kansas City proudly showcases its jazz
heritage. Clubs and bars in Westport and the Plaza have lively jam sessions. There are
often free concerts by big name performers at the Crown Center.
Theater and comedy are also great entertainment options in the city as
there are performances through out the year. The Midland Center for Performing Arts is a
great place for concerts.
Fly into Key West on any major national airlines -- the airport is just
few miles out of town. By car, you can reach Key West on Overseas Highway (U.S. 1). There
is a Greyhound service to the town. You can choose to walk or cycle around the town. There
are many accommodation options available here -- ranging from heritage hotels to cheap
B&Bs. However, it is essential to have reservations in winter, which is peak tourist
season. In summer, prices drop drastically.
