Located on the banks of the Snake
River, Idaho Falls was named after the waterfall here which unfortunately have been
dammed. The countryside around the town is beautiful, with thick vegetation.
Sights to see in Idaho Falls include the Mormon temple.
Craters of the Moon National Monument is 90km west of Idaho Falls. Enroute to the park,
stop by at Experimental Breeder Reactor No 1, the first nuclear power
station that has been decommissioned and is now a museum.
You can reach Idaho Falls by bus or car. Greyhound Lines serve the
town. If you are coming from the south, Idaho Falls can be reached on the I-15, 60 miles
north of Pocatello. There are plenty of hotels and motels here, mostly on the west bank of
the river and close to the road. The eastern bank has some interesting stores. Food is
tasty and cheap here.
