Need we say anymore?!!. Just 50 miles west of Detroit, Ann Arbor makes for an interesting
and relaxing getaway from big city blues. A major live performance venue, you can catch
some great music bands in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor is also well known for the excellent live
music performances. Several music festivals such as the Frog Island Festival in Ypsilanti,
which features jazz and world music and the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival takes place
here. Bars and restaurants have live bands performing, with many specializing in a
particular type of music.
There is no particular season to visit Ann Arbor. Accommodation is not a
problem as Ann Arbor has plenty of good-value motels and B&B places. For really
reasonable prices, consider the rooms the University rents out as well as the YMCA.
Brewpubs, restaurants serving world cuisine -Indian, Israeli, French,
African- - these are the hallmarks of Ann Arbor's dining experience. Prices vary from
value-for-money to expensive, depending on the restaurant chosen.
One of the best places in the US to shop for books and music, there are
several specialty stores along the Main Street and over forty bookshops alone!
Wing into Detroit on any one of the many domestic airlines that serve this
route. Then either rent a car or take a bus to Ann Arbor. Greyhound buses to Detroit and
Chicago stop here. By car, one can arrive either on the I-94 or the US 23. There is an
Amtrak station on the northern edge of downtown Ann Arbor.
