Los Cabos is geographically isolated
from mainland Mexico and once used to be a provision stop for pirates; it borrows much of
its modernity from the US.
Los Cabos attracts eco-tourists, honeymooners, beach lovers and sports
enthusiasts. It offers a variety of sporting opportunities like world class golf, superb
fishing, diving, deep sea sport fishing, snorkeling, surfing, windsurfing and game bird
hunting. Eco-tourism is a treat, especially whale watching from January to April, and the
tours of pre-historic fossil beds. Dont miss the Estuary of San Jose, Santiago
Zoo, Lovers Beach, El Arco, the ancient Lighthouse at Cabo Falso and Fabrica
de Vidrio which is the factory for beautiful made hand-blown glass while you
are here.
The Los Cabos International Airport is 11 km north of San Jose. There are
vans and taxis that can be hired to get to your desired destination. Getting around in Los
Cabos can be done with taxis. You can rent bikes, mopeds or cars too. There is also a
water taxi between Médano Beach and the marina nearby.
There are beach front hotels and resorts that provide all the comforts.
Most of them have a Mexican décor. The night goes on and on in the fiesta sessions at the
bars, nightclubs or on the beach. Head there after dining on spicy Mexican cuisine,
Italian pasta and pizza, succulent seafood, Japanese sushi, Spanish and American fare with
lots of fiery margaritas topped with a dessert at one of the many restaurants here.
Play your 18 holes, serve aces, game fish for dorado, yellowtail and
roosterfish, dive to the only live coral reef on the west coast of North America, snorkel,
swim and conquer the waves with windsurfing in Los Cabos.
When shopping you can savour local life in an open air market that sells
flowers, fresh fish, clothing or you may visit high price shops selling wood furniture,
woven rugs, lamps, ceramics and souvenir accessories.
