MiddleEast > Lebanon > Introduction
L E B A N O N |
| Lebanon, situated on the
eastern Mediterranean coast, boasts of sea and snow, an unusual combination for any
country its size. Its people and society are also a unique blend of tradition and
sophistication, Christian and Muslim cultures. Shell-shocked Beirut, its capital city, is
recovering from the ravages of 17 years of civil war. Most of the country is still in
limbo and does not quite know if it can trust the stability and security gifted by the
collaboration of the Lebanese and Syrian armies. The process of rebuilding is a painful
and long one, but friends and organisations from over the world aid this country. |
