| Alanya is a beautiful holiday centre
of modern hotels and motels, numerous fish restaurants, cafes and bars. The cafes around
the harbour have become popular gathering places for tourists. |
 |
The road that rings the coast is lined with countless
boutiques that tempt tourists with handicrafts, leather goods, clothes, jewellery handbags
and the painted gourds that are a symbol of the area.
If you enjoy exploring you should visit the Damlatas Cave to see the
eerie misshapen rock formations. Near it is the Archaelogy and Ethnography Museum that
is open weekdays except Monday. A boat can take you to see the three sea grottoes Forsforlu
Magara with its phosphorescent rocks, the Kizlar Magarasi where pirates
imprisoned their female captives, and the Asiklar Magarasi.
Take a day trip to the Dim Cayi Valley, 15km east of Alanya,
where you can relax in the shade of the scenic valley and rejoice in the sound of the
stream rushing by. 30km east of Alanya, the historical harbour city Lotape, is a great
place to visit with its Roman ruins, secluded beaches and bays. Avsallar (Incekum), about
25km from Alanya to the west, is a holiday centre with fine sandy beaches. East from
Alanya towards Gazipasa, you will certainly linger on the exceptional beaches.
