Home of Volvo, and an important
manufacturing centre for ball bearings and paper: Gothenburg, or Göteborg is the second
largest city in Sweden. It’s a city of parks and gardens, museums by the dozen, and a
certain friendliness, which is all around. Many Swedes regard Göteborg as a much warmer
and `happier’ city than Stockholm, and it is definitely a place a traveller should
visit. What makes it even more attractive is the fact that it is in close proximity to
some of Sweden’s best known seaside resorts, the `Swedish Riviera’ is to the
north of Gothenburg, and is a convenient base for exploring some of the quaint little
fishing villages along the coast.
