Football, fashion, fettuccini, Ferrari and finance make Milan what it is. It’s high-powered, snazzy and obviously riding high on heavy doses of adrenaline. Even its normal siesta time has been cut short to accommodate all the work that Milano as Italy’s powerhouse must do.A fair bit of history, art, architecture and Renaissance outpouring combine to make Milan quite a sumptuous travel destination. Highlights include the world famous opera house – the Teatra Alla Scala and Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.Predominantly though, Milan is Italy’s Mecca of business travel. Few people who are not on a company-will-pick-up-the-tab jaunt decide to stay in Milan. It is undoubtedly an expensive city, but equally undoubtedly there is some scope for budget travel frolic too. So go ahead, do the Duomo, freeze before the fresco and flip out on a truly European city.
