Europe > Ireland > Dublin > introduction.

D U B L I N

The capital of Ireland, Dublin has been immortalised in literature and song (remember the ghostly Mary Malone selling cockles and mussels on the streets of the Fair City, remember Joyce’s legendary Dubliners?), in history and in art. For this is perhaps one of Europe’s most enchanting capitals - a city of beautiful architecture, of warm and friendly people, of an exuberance which is hard to match.

Sitting on the banks of the river Liffey, Dublin is situated by the side of Dublin Bay, with the Wicklow Mountains in close proximity. A city of quaint old buildings, museums, pubs and interesting old streets, Dublin is definitely a place to visit if you’re planning a trip to Ireland. In fact, it’s a city where you should spend at least a few days- it needs to be savoured, each sight to be ‘drunk’ in, each memory to be stored away. And memories of Dublin don’t go easily- it’s a city that’s particularly conducive to remember, cherish, and revisit.
