| North Island is the land of
hundreds of volcanoes, some still very much active, and lots of rivers lakes and
incredibly impressive volcanic depressions. Its
slightly smaller but more populated than its sibling, South Island. |
 |
The capital Wellington, as
well as Auckland, the commercial hub of New Zealand is on this island. Maori culture and
influence is the most visible in North Island as are Asian and Polynesian influences. No
visit to New Zealand is complete without visiting the Lake Taupo, Lake Waikaremoana and
Lake Wanaka, three of the most spectacular places God made.
