Obviously your
passport has to be in order and you may have to sign an undertaking that you have an
onward or return ticket, and enough money to support yourself during your stay.
With the exception of New Zealanders, all foreign nationals need visas to
enter Australia. There are several different kinds of visas: Tourist visas are valid up to
12 months during which you can fly in and out several times. Working Holiday Visas allow a
stay of one year while working casually, or on a non-formal basis.
Electronic Travel Authority is a free visa issued by a registered travel
agent who is part of the IATA (International Air Transport Association). The ETA is
applicable to citizens of the U S, U K, European and some South-East Asian countries.
Apply well in advance especially for the Working Holiday Visas. Visa extensions allow for
a stay for up to one year. Apply two or three weeks in advance and the application fee,
regardless of whether you get an extension, has to be paid.
Check out the nearest Australian Embassy/ High Commission for information
