| NEW
SOUTH WALES |
The first Europeans
to make landfall in Australia chose to do so in New South Wales and for most travellers
heading to the Australian continent, it is the perfect place to begin their sojourn in the
country down under. New South Wales witnessed the first colonization of Australia starting
with Botany Bay. Sydney, Australia's largest and most populous city sprawls around the
harbour, the waterfront, encompasses the bay and its surrounding hills. New South Wales
has 1900 km of some of the world's most pristine beaches and spectacular views running
along its coastlines.
Its coastal waters promise
endless numbers of perfect places to go surfing, diving, snorkelling or sailing. And
that's not all that New South Wales has to offer a visitor to its shores - the Blue
Mountains and Snowy Mountains offer great treks and nature walks in wilderness areas,
riding and cycling in national parks and skiing on perfect slopes. Further inland are the
dry western plains stretching to Bourke, ideal for bush walks an experience only to
be savoured in the vast open spaces of the Outback. |
