The island of Lombok is situated close to Bali, but
unlike its overcrowded neighbour, Lombok is relatively quiet, peaceful
and as yet undiscovered by the hordes of tourists who hit Bali every
season. Lombok is best known for its beautiful countryside, its
pristine white beaches and its impressive volcano- Mount Rinjani- that
virtually dominates the landscape and is one of the most popular
tourist sights on the island. Lombok’s tourist infrastructure
isn’t as well developed as that of Bali, mainly because the island
itself is less developed; you won’t see too many tourists, but even
this is bound to change over the coming years, as more and more people
discover the beauty of this quiet little island.
