Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, is perched precariously on a sharp ridge and has the atmosphere of a Himalayan hill station. Tourist infrastructure leaves much to be desired and there is very little to see in the city except interesting markets. White churches dot the landscape leaving no doubt that the city is devoutly Christian. Women wear a multihued wrap around skirt – for a moment you may wonder if you are in a South American city!
