The Mossi Kings,
who belonged to one of the most important ancient African dynasties, started developing
Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, as early as 1441. The town grew up around the
royal palaces and was extended during French colonization. Recently, it has been expanded,
necessitated by the rural exodus. With its wide avenues and bicycle lanes, Ouagadougou has
a relaxed atmosphere. Although there is not much by way of sights, its a pleasant
place to visit. |
